One way vision effect with Llumar film type RN07 GR SR HPR

Feedback from our Technical Helpline reveals that building owners and designers regularly need total privacy provision within their premises – or a “one way mirror”effect.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as one way mirror, but a close approximation can be achieved.

Most installers would normally recommend a highly reflective silver type solar performance film as a daylight privacy film. However, one of the basic techniques by which one way vision can be achieved is by using a partially reflecting mirror. LLumar film type RN07 GR SR HPR has been specially-developed as a partially reflecting mirror film that has a relatively high reflection and relatively low light transmission.

Whilst other factors such as controlling lighting levels need to be taken into account to successfully provide one way vision, the critical action is the installation of LLumar® film type RN07 GR SR HPR.

High visible light transmission versus solar heat rejection

To provide acceptable levels of solar energy rejection, it has traditionally been necessary to recommend a film which has a low visible light transmission and may also have a highly reflective appearance.

With LLumar® this is no longer the case, with the introduction of two new films that provide high visible light transmission and low visible reflectance, whilst achieving better than acceptable solar energy rejection. These films are only lightly tinted.
